Technical requirements for online courses
The minimum requirements are described below. It is possible that you may also be able to attend the course on a computer whose specifications are at a lower level.
Please note that we do not recommend making changes to the settings on your device - especially for business computers - without first consulting an IT specialist. We are also not responsible for any problems resulting from the changes you make.
The minimum requirements are specified for PCs or Apple Macs, not Chromebooks or tablets (such as iPads). While Chromebooks and iPads will work with some BPP systems, such as our HUB virtual learning environment, they are not compatible with all BPP platforms. You can use a Chromebook or iPad as an additional device, but be aware that if this is the only device you have, you will not meet our minimum specifications and will not be able to take some online exams.
Minimum requirements for Windows OS
- Memory: 4 GB RAM.
- Hard drive: 10 GB of free disk space.
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64bit).
- Screen: screen resolution of 1280 x 768.
- Graphics: hardware graphics acceleration requires DirectX 9 or later, with WDDM 2.0 or later for Windows 10 (or WDDM 1.3 or later for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update); Skype for Business requires DirectX 9 or later, 128 MB of graphics memory and 32 bits per pixel.
- .Net version: some features may require .NET version 3.5 or 4.6 or higher to be installed.
- Browser: latest versions: Google Chrome (preferred browser), Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari or Firefox.
- Microphone: built-in/headset.
- Camera: built-in/external webcam, 720p resolution.
Minimum requirements for macOS
- Memory: 4 GB RAM.
- Hard drive: 10 GB of available disk space, HFS+ (also known as macOS Extended) or APFS hard drive format.
- Operating system: macOS 11 and later.
- Screen: screen resolution of 1280 x 800.
- Graphics: no specific graphics requirements.
- Browser: latest versions: Google Chrome (preferred browser), Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari or Firefox.
- Microphone: built-in/headset.
- Camera: built-in/external webcam, 720p resolution.
